CompTIA Security+ is the first security certification for those inspiring to be IT professionals. It establishes the core knowledge required of any cybersecurity role and provides a springboard to intermediate-level cybersecurity jobs. This Security+ Certification Prep Course provides the basic knowledge needed to plan, implement, and maintain information security in a vendor-neutral format. This includes risk management, host and network security, authentication and access control systems, cryptography, and organizational security. This course prepares students for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam (SYO-601). The CompTIA Security+ certification is the leading entry-level IT certification for those looking to break into the exciting field of cybersecurity.  Recommended completion of CompTIA A+ or at least one year working in the technology industry.

The number of jobs available for Security+ certified technicians exceeds the supply in many parts of the US.  Understanding of basic security measures is a requirement today for any IT position and Security+ confirms your knowledge. Security+ certification is also approved by the Department of Defense (DoD) to meet Directive 8570.1 requirements. If you’re seeking employment in the government, then it is a required certification.

This course prepares students for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam (SYO-601) which will be taken at the end of the term.
